Halton Regional Police say they ran 27 programs for more than 700 young people across Halton Region, which includes Burlington, over the past year. These are the force's own figures.

Police shared the numbers Thursday in a post on X announcing a Youth Impact Report. The report tracks the force's 2025-2027 Youth Engagement Strategy, a plan launched last year with measurable goals for how officers work with young people.

Police also say they gave wrap-around support, meaning coordinated help from several services built around one young person, to more than 150 youth, and set up seven new partnerships with community agencies.

The force's youth work includes two units. Its Youth Team focuses on at-risk youth, including children at risk of becoming victims or getting involved in crime. Its High School Liaison Officer program assigns officers to local secondary schools, with the aim of meeting the needs of educators, students and families.

The strategy runs through 2027.
