Kelvin Galbraith will speak for Ward 1 at Burlington city hall and on regional council after winning a four-way race in the Monday, Oct. 26, municipal election with more than twice the votes of his nearest rival, unofficial results show.

Galbraith received 3,684 votes for the City and Regional Councillor seat. That put him 2,109 votes ahead of runner-up James Kerr, who drew 1,575 votes, or 20.52 per cent.

The real contest was for second place. Robert Radway finished just 62 votes behind Kerr, with 1,513 votes, or 19.71 per cent. Cheryl Hurst was fourth with 902 votes, or 11.75 per cent.

Galbraith's win was clear but not a majority: he got more votes than Kerr and Radway put together, but fewer than all three of his opponents combined.

Ward 1 voters cast their ballots in a ward with new lines this time. Minor changes to Burlington's ward boundaries were approved in May 2025, following a review of council's makeup and ward boundaries, and the changes reach Wards 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The result becomes official once the City Clerk declares it, which the City says happens as soon as possible after voting day.
