Tyandaga Golf Course, the City of Burlington's public course, closes for the season on Sunday, Nov. 8, the City said in a post on X. A week later the fairways get a winter job: disc golf, free to play, starts Sunday, Nov. 15.

Disc golf works like regular golf, except players throw a flying disc into a target instead of hitting a ball into a hole. The fewest throws wins. There's no need to register, and the course is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

Players can bring their own discs or borrow some from the City's lending library: reserve online, then pick them up curbside at Haber Recreation Centre, 3040 Tim Dobbie Dr. The City is also pointing players to its new sports equipment lockers, which have free discs to borrow.

The City thanked golfers and the course's volunteers for the 2026 season in the same post.

Tyandaga is at 1265 Tyandaga Park Drive. Disc golfers should enter from the Tennis Club parking lot.
