Pinty's Delicious Foods, the chicken company based at 5063 North Service Road in Burlington, wants the province to let it replace the dust collector on Line 3 of its Oakville plant with a scrubber, a device that cleans exhaust air. It also wants a "limited operational flexibility" condition removed from the plant's permit.
Ontario's environment ministry posted a proposal to amend the plant's Environmental Compliance Approval for air and noise, the provincial permit that sets its emission rules. The plant, at 2714 Bristol Circle, makes processed chicken products. Its fryers, ovens, boilers, heaters, cooling tower and a scrubber give off nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, canola and soybean oil, glyoxal and aldehydes including propionaldehyde, hexaldehyde and crotonaldehyde.
The 45-day comment period opened Friday, Nov. 6, and runs to Monday, Dec. 21. Questions and comments go to the ministry at [email protected].
