Club 54, the dance club at 3345 Harvester Rd., is in its final season after 35 years, its website says. The homepage says the club is "closing soon" and warns there are "very few weekends left."
Owner Gene Quondamatteo has announced he will retire later this year and will soon sell the property, according to the club. The homepage gives no exact closing date.
The club advertised a reunion weekend for Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, with doors open until 2 a.m. Its calendar of parties runs to a Boxing Day bash on Saturday, Dec. 26.
Other advertised nights are below; the Dec. 5 event is still to be announced.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| Sat., Nov. 21 | Reunion bash |
| Sun., Nov. 22 | Battle of the Bands |
| Sat., Nov. 28 | Reunion party |

Beyond the dance floor, the club gained a national profile as the production home of the TV series Comedy at Club 54. Quondamatteo produced the show, comedian Ben Guyatt hosted it, and it aired for more than 15 years on CHCH-TV, the Hamilton station, and The Comedy Network, the club says.
For anyone planning a last night out, the cover deals still stand: on Fridays, groups of four or more get in free before midnight, and on Saturdays, groups of six or more get in free before 11 p.m. Saturday groups must email [email protected] first, and the deal doesn't apply on special event nights.
