Halton Regional Police are getting $300,000 from the province to keep going after the organized criminal networks behind vehicle theft across Halton Region, which includes Burlington.

The grant comes from the Government of Ontario's Preventing Auto Thefts Grant Program. It will help pay for continued enforcement aimed at those networks, police said in a media advisory inviting reporters to a formal announcement of the funding.

Deputy Chief Jeff Hill is to speak about the money and the force's ongoing work to prevent vehicle theft across the region. He will be joined by local members of provincial parliament (MPPs) and Halton mayors.

The announcement is set for Friday, Oct. 30, at Halton police headquarters, 2485 North Service Road West in Oakville.
