Families in the Burlington Central and Nelson school communities could see their school boundaries change. A recommendation from the review of how students are split between the two schools goes to Halton District School Board trustees on Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to the agenda for the meeting.

A boundary review decides which streets and neighbourhoods feed into which school, so a change can mean a different school for some students. The board calls this one the Burlington Central - Nelson school realignment.

It is part of an action item, meaning trustees can be asked to vote, on boundary reviews under the board's 2026 long-term accommodation plan, its schedule for reviewing school space and boundaries across Halton.

Trustees will also receive a Sept. 15 letter from board chair A. Collard to Education Minister Calandra about a moratorium on school closures, a pause the province can place on boards shutting schools.

The public session runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the J.W. Singleton Education Centre, 2050 Guelph Line, in Burlington.

Anyone planning to go in person should arrive early: the public gallery seats 60 people, first come, first served. The meeting will also be live-streamed on hdsb.ca and the board's YouTube channel for those who can't get a seat.
