Residents have until Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 4:30 p.m. to apply for a volunteer seat on the Halton Hills Public Library Board for 2027–2030. You don't need to have sat on a board or worked in a library, the library says.
The board governs the library rather than running it day to day. Members help set its priorities, approve its policies, oversee its finances and support its leadership. The library is looking for people with strengths in areas such as business, finance, strategic planning, leadership, technology, accessibility, community development or building partnerships.
The new council, elected Oct. 26, takes office Nov. 15 and will appoint the board.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and live in Halton Hills. Employees of the library or the Town can't apply.
The job takes about six to 10 hours a month. That includes preparing for meetings and attending occasional library events. The board generally meets eight or nine times a year. Meetings are currently held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, from 7 to 9 p.m.
