BurlOak Theatre Group, the Oakville company that opened the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts in 1977, has 12 nominations in the 2026 BroadwayWorld Toronto Awards, the group announced on Instagram. They include what the group calls Favourite Local Theatre Group.
BroadwayWorld, a theatre news website, runs reader's-choice awards for regions including Toronto. Readers submitted the nominees, and the winners are decided by public voting on its website rather than by a panel of judges.

The group says the nominations recognize the casts and crews of three of its productions: The Importance of Being Earnest, Rock of Ages and Mean Girls.
Rock of Ages, the rock 'n' roll musical, ran April 15 to 19 under director Tim Cadeny, with musical director Kelly Knight and choreographer Penelope Artemis. Mean Girls followed Sept. 24 to 27, directed by Chantal Forde with musical director Tony Discenza.
Founded in 1976, BurlOak calls itself one of the longest-standing community theatre groups in Oakville. Its first show at the Oakville Centre was The Odd Couple, the group says, and it has staged its productions there ever since. It now puts on four shows a year.
Voting is on the BroadwayWorld website and closes Thursday, Dec. 31.
