Oakville's Santa Claus Parade will close Lakeshore Road East and Kerr Street from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026. Anyone who parks on the route or nearby side streets will need to move their car the night before. The parade starts at 9 a.m. in downtown Oakville, the Town says.
This is the 78th annual parade, according to the committee that organizes it, chaired by Ward 7 Councillor Scott Xie. Santa and friends will travel from downtown Oakville west to Kerr Village. The parade is expected to wrap up around 10:30 a.m. This year's theme is North Pole Sweets and Treats.
The closures include Lakeshore Road East between Allan and Brant streets, and Kerr Street between Lakeshore and Elmwood roads. There's no local access inside the closed stretch, so residents who live there can't drive in or out until noon. Drivers passing through should use Chartwell Road, Cornwall Road, Speers Road and Dorval Drive instead. The parking lot at Trafalgar Park Community Centre will also be closed that day.
Parking rules kick in before the floats arrive. Temporary "No Parking Special Event" signs go up on the route and on nearby residential side streets between Monday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 13; the signs mark which streets must be cleared. From 11 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday, courtesy, paid, overnight and on-street parking permits won't be valid on those streets. Cars left there during the parade may be ticketed or towed.
Families can leave the car at the GO station and take Oakville Transit's free Santa Shuttle. It runs from Oakville GO Station straight down Dorval Drive, with no stops, to Trafalgar Park Community Centre at 133 Rebecca Street, at the end of the parade route. Buses come every five to 10 minutes starting at 8 a.m. Board along the station driveway near the Cross Avenue entrance, and park in the station's Main Lot.
To see the whole parade, catch a shuttle leaving the GO station by 9:15 a.m. Anyone driving downtown should arrive between 8 and 8:45 a.m. to find parking and a good spot along the route. Rides back to the station run until 11:30 a.m.
