Drivers heading to Bronte Village to shop or eat out this holiday season can skip paying for parking on Saturdays, starting Nov. 21. Businesses in the Bronte BIA, the business improvement area that promotes the lakeside village, are covering the cost at paid municipal parking locations in the village, the BIA says.

The offer runs on six Saturdays: Nov. 21 and 28, and Dec. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

It isn't automatic. When you arrive, open the HONK parking app and enter the promo code BRONTEFREE. The code works once per licence plate on each of the six Saturdays, and only at Bronte-area paid parking. Paying through HONK means there's no printed stub to leave on the dash.

The 20-minute quick-stop meters, which cost $.50 in Bronte Village, can't be used with HONK, so those spaces aren't included.

On a normal Saturday, Oakville charges at metered street spaces from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and most on-street parking in the village is $2 an hour with a two-hour limit. By comparison, Lakeshore Road East downtown runs $2.50 an hour.
