Leart Nura has been named OUA West Rookie of the Year for 2026. The award goes to the best first-year player in the western division of Ontario University Athletics, the conference for the province's university sports teams. Oakville Soccer Club, where Nura plays, congratulated him on Facebook. It caps his first season with the Brock University Badgers men's soccer team.
Nura scored three goals as a rookie as Brock reached the playoffs. He was one of three Badgers honoured when the conference announced its men's soccer awards, Brock Athletics says.
The playoff run was short. Brock went in as the No. 6 seed and opened on the road against No. 3 seed McMaster at Ron Joyce Stadium, where the Marauders won 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, ending the Badgers' season.
In Oakville, Nura played 10 games this past season for Oakville Soccer Club's OPL1 Men and finished the campaign with three goals in the last three games, the club says.
