The Oakville Titans football club is still looking for coaches across several age groups. As of Friday, Nov. 6, its list of open jobs included head coaches for its U10 and U12 teams, a coordinator and position coaches for those two teams, and U14 position coaches. The club's first U19 women's team also needs an offensive coordinator and position coaches.
The openings come as the club names the staff for its U18+ senior varsity team, which plays in the Ontario Summer Football League (OSFL). The group includes a member of McMaster University's 2011 Vanier Cup-winning team, the club says. The Vanier Cup is the Canadian university football championship.
That coach, Tom Sterling, played at McMaster until 2016 and will work with the offensive line. He grew up in Burlington, played for Assumption CSS and now coaches the school's senior team. He also hosts the "At The 55" podcast, which covers Ontario university (OUA) and U Sports football.
New offensive line coach Riley Thompson, a former Corpus Christi Longhorn who has played offensive line for the University of Guelph Gryphons, has coached with the Burlington Stampeders and the Titans before. Nick Firlit, a former McMaster Marauder, returns as offensive coordinator and run game coordinator, his fourth season with the club and second as coordinator.
Two brothers will share the sideline. Running backs coach Ben Hussul is returning to the club he played for as a youth to coach alongside his brother, Sean Hussul, for the 2027 season. Ben is a former Hamilton Hurricane in the Canadian Junior Football League and studies at Mohawk. Takudzwa "TK" Andrea also returns as a running backs coach.
On defence, Mike Cindric is entering his fifth year as linebackers coach, the Titans said in an announcement posted Friday. He played linebacker at York University after starting out at Loyola High School in Mississauga.

Oliver Clarke, entering his fourth season with the Titans, coaches the defensive line. He previously coached the club's U16 team and the Craig Kielburger Spartans. David Maxwell, who played at Assumption High School and Mount Allison University, returns to work alongside him as a defensive line coach and as the team's strength and conditioning coach.
Senior varsity players start indoor training Saturday, Nov. 21, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Sherwood Sports Dome, 5270 Fairview St., Burlington.
