Three players from Oakville Soccer Club's semi-pro side have been named Ontario University Athletics second-team all-stars for the 2026 season, the club posted on Facebook. Leart Nura, Abbie Russell and Maria Godoy-Atrash all play for the club in the Ontario Premier League.
Ontario University Athletics, or OUA, runs varsity sport among the province's universities, and the three earned their honours at three different schools: Nura with Brock's men's team, Russell with Ontario Tech's women's team and Godoy-Atrash with the University of Toronto's women's team. The club says all three helped their teams reach the OUA playoffs.
Nura's year brought a second honour: he was named OUA West Rookie of the Year for 2026. The club says he scored 3 goals in his first season with the Brock Badgers. He also played 10 times for Oakville's OPL1 Men this past season and finished strong, scoring 3 goals in his last 3 games.
Brock went into the OUA men's playoffs as the No. 6 seed and visited No. 3 McMaster at Ron Joyce Stadium in the first round, where McMaster won 3-0 to end Brock's season.
Godoy-Atrash was one of four Varsity Blues women's players named OUA all-stars in an announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 3, after Toronto's women's team qualified for the 2026 OUA playoffs.
The Ontario Premier League is separate from university soccer: it's Ontario's semi-professional league, set up in 2014 under the name League1 Ontario. Players hoping to follow the trio can try out: Oakville Soccer Club holds open OPL tryouts for the 2026/2027 season in December.
