Members of 100 Women Who Care Burlington, a circle of women who pool donations for a local charity they choose together at their meetings, have raised $12,975 so far for a scholarship fund that helps students in Burlington and the wider Halton region, the group posted on Instagram.

The money goes to the Adam Malki Memorial Scholarship. Malki was a Milton District High School student who died in 2024, and his family created the scholarship to honour his kindness, inclusivity and community leadership. The group says the donations will help support scholarships for local students while honouring his memory.

The giving circle chose the scholarship as its Charity of Choice at its Sept. 24 meeting.

The fund was created in partnership with the Halton Learning Foundation and supports students in financial need. The foundation says the goal is to raise $100,000 for three awards: the Difference Maker Award, the Sportsmanship Award and the Built to Lead Award for the Trades.

The first recipients were named in June 2025, and nine scholarships totalling $21,000 went to Halton students that year. This year, three scholarships worth $7,500 together have already been awarded, and seven to nine Burlington students are being chosen for more. The Adam Malki Memorial Fund's website shows $101,930 raised toward a 2025 goal of $165,000.

The scholarship follows the circle's earlier picks: Lighthouse for Grieving Children and Families in April, Capillary Wave Community in February and the Halton Learning Foundation itself in November 2025.

Members can nominate a local charity for an upcoming meeting until Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, Nov. 16 at Burlington Golf & Country Club, 422 North Shore Blvd. E., with registration at 7 p.m. and the meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
