Halton Region Public Health, which inspects places that serve food, found the Burlington Curling Club out of compliance with the requirement that food be cooked, cooled and stored at proper temperatures during a routine inspection Thursday, Oct. 29. Temperature control is a critical item, one of the checks health units treat as most likely to affect whether food makes people sick.

The rest of the visit went better. The private club at 2295 New Street passed its other critical item, buying food from approved sources and protecting it from contamination, and met standards for food handler training, hygiene and hand washing. A cleanliness and sanitation problem was fixed while inspectors were on site.

Inspectors set a follow-up by Thursday, Nov. 5, on the temperature issue.
