Shake Shack wants to serve alcohol both inside and outside at its planned Burlington restaurant at 4511 Dundas St. It is the latest public step since the burger chain promised in August to open there this year.
The application is for a new liquor sales licence covering indoor and outdoor areas, according to the public notice. The outdoor space is part of what the restaurant has asked for, not something that has already been approved.
Shake Shack put Burlington on its map on Monday, Aug. 17, when the company announced three new Ontario restaurants: the Dundas Street location and one in Oakville, both set to open in 2026, and one in London in 2027.
That announcement named only the year, not an opening day, and a licence application doesn't set one either. With 2026 now in its final months, Burlington burger fans are still waiting on a date.
The Dundas Street restaurant is part of a much bigger push. Shake Shack Canada says it plans to open at least 35 locations across the country.
Residents who want to object to the Burlington licence application or send in comments have until Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
