BurlingtonGreen, the local environmental group, says its Zero Waste Drop-Off at Burlington Centre on Saturday, Oct. 17, drew a record-breaking 355 outdoor drop-offs and filled a U-Haul with e-waste.

The group shared the preliminary tally on Instagram and says final collection numbers are still to come.

BurlingtonGreen hosts the drop-off each year with Burlington Centre and Tech Genius Burlington Inc. It takes unwanted electronics so they can be repaired, reused or responsibly recycled instead of thrown out. This year's event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the mall's parking area at the corner of Guelph Line and Fairview, at 777 Guelph Line.

Terracycle bins on site took items that Halton Region's recycling program doesn't accept, such as small water filters, plastic cards and disposable gloves. Terracycle is a company that recycles hard-to-recycle waste. The event also accepted fall and winter clothing, shoes, accessories and toys.

That clothing will be offered at BurlingtonGreen's Clothing Swap on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
