A mural paying tribute to LaSalle Park is the latest addition to the Plains Road streetscape, says the Aldershot Village Business Improvement Area (BIA), the group that represents businesses in the Aldershot neighbourhood.

The mural isn't in the park itself. It's on the outside wall of LaSalle Park Retirement Community. According to the BIA, local artist Sarah Carlson of Living Murals designed it and painted it by hand.

The BIA says it shows the natural landscape of LaSalle Park, framing a view across the water toward the bridge. The group says it managed to fit in one more mural before winter.

Plains Road regulars may already know Carlson's work. The BIA's previous public art installation, Rooted in Aldershot, was also hers. It's painted across a fence outside the DOT Patio at 157 Plains Road East.

That piece looks to the neighbourhood's past rather than its waterfront: it shows crops historically grown in the area, honouring the orchards, farms and roadside markets that once defined Aldershot.
