The Georgetown Raiders, Halton Hills' junior A team, lost 8-2 to the Stouffville Spirit at Mold Masters Sportsplex on Tuesday, Nov. 3. It was their fourth loss in a row.
Special teams widened the gap. On the power play, when a penalty leaves the other side a skater short, Stouffville scored on three of five chances. Georgetown had eight and scored on none.
Stouffville led 3-0 after the first period and added four more in the second. Georgetown's only goals came in that middle frame, from Adam and Sarabando; the box score lists surnames only. The Spirit outshot the Raiders 34-26, and Raiders goalie Marandola made 26 saves, leaving his record at four wins and nine losses. The crowd was listed at 46.
Lokul's Player of the Game is Stouffville's Armstrong, with two goals and an assist. Allain also scored twice, and Ishwaran, Boyle and Torrance had one each.
Two weeks earlier the Raiders had won back-to-back games, at Trenton and over Toronto. Since then the goals against have piled up: the slide began with a home loss to Burlington on Oct. 24, and Collingwood beat them 7-1 on Nov. 1, two days before the Stouffville game.
