Skaters have a new place to ride close to home: a skate spot at Miller Drive Park, 87 Miller Drive, in Georgetown. The Town of Halton Hills announced the opening Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The project came out of the Georgetown Action Sports Needs Assessment, a Town study from April 2017.
NewLine Skateparks designed it after consulting the surrounding neighbourhood and the local skate community. Grade Control Hardscapes Ltd., a Halton Hills hardscape contractor, built it.
Mayor Ann Lawlor said the skate spot gives the town's youth another local place for recreation.
Halton Hills also has the Three Musketears Skatepark at 415 Queen Street in Acton, rebuilt and reopened in 2015 for skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter users and inline skaters of all ages and skill levels.
