Halton Region Public Health inspectors found the Tim Hortons at 8501 Regional Road 25 wasn't meeting the requirement that foods be cooked, cooled and stored at proper temperatures during a routine inspection on Thursday, Nov. 5. The regional health department, which inspects restaurants and other food premises, lists that item, under temperature and food storage, as critical: the kind most directly tied to food safety.
It was the only one of the seven items checked that wasn't in compliance. The coffee shop's other critical item, food coming from approved sources and protected from contamination, passed, as did pest control, hand washing and hygiene, garbage, equipment sanitation and premises cleanliness.
Of 37 food-premises inspections the health department carried out in Milton between Oct. 6 and Nov. 5, in the records Lokul has collected, 31 found every item in compliance. Other places flagged recently include The Biryaniwalla on Main Street East, cited the same day for premises maintenance and sanitation, and Swiss Chalet and St Louis Bar & Grill, each cited Nov. 3 for pest control, a non-critical item.
