Halton Regional Police have released a photo of a man they say tried to pull a cyclist off his bike on Oakville's Kerr Street in August, then left with the rider's sunglasses instead. They're asking anyone who recognizes him to come forward.
Police say the cyclist was riding along Kerr Street at about 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, when another man approached him. The suspect grabbed the handlebars and tried to drag the rider off to take the bike.
He didn't get the bike, but he took the cyclist's sunglasses and ran off, police say. He was last seen heading west on Stewart Street. The rider had minor injuries.
Police describe the suspect as a white, middle-aged man with a medium build and short brown or dark hair. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a red short-sleeved shirt over a light-coloured long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, tan or brown shoes and dark gloves.
Anyone who can identify him is asked to call the force's 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.
