The Burlington Cougars, the city's junior A hockey team, shut out the Georgetown Raiders 10-0 at Central Arena on Friday, Nov. 6, a lopsided reversal of the night Georgetown spoiled their season opener.

In that opener, also at Central Arena, the Raiders scored six times and outshot Burlington 21-8 in the first 20 minutes, and went on to win 7-4 in front of 440 fans. Friday went the other way from the start.

Zaiden Hraiche led the way with a hat trick. He opened the scoring at 4:50 of the first period, added a power-play goal at 15:31 and finished his night at 6:56 of the third. The three goals take him to 11 on the season. Daniels added a power-play goal, his 16th.

The Cougars had the game in hand after one period and broke it open in the second, their biggest frame of the night. They outshot Georgetown 63-30, more than double the Raiders' total, and put at least 20 shots on goal in every period.

At the other end, Vicente turned aside all 30 Georgetown shots for the shutout, improving his record to 11-3-2-0.

It was a far easier night than the teams' Oct. 24 meeting in Georgetown, when Georgetown cut the Cougars' lead to 5-4 before Burlington held on to win.

The team billed Friday's game as its annual Tribute Game, with free admission for past and present members of the Armed Forces and first responders. The team said special Tribute Game jerseys would be auctioned during the game, with bids starting at $75. The crowd was 297, smaller than the 440 who saw the opener.

Hraiche is also one of three Cougars named to Team Grey in the Ontario Junior Hockey League's Zach Hyman Prospects Series, which wraps up in Brantford in early January 2027.

The Cougars are back on the ice Sunday, Nov. 8, on the road against the Caledon Admirals.
