Nelson High School's senior boys football team beat Frank J. Hayden Secondary 47-7 on Friday, Oct. 30, to finish the regular season 5-0 and in first place. The two Burlington schools both came in at 4-0, with first place on the line in the last game of the HSSAA regular season, Halton's high school sports league. Hayden finishes 4-1.

The Lords won on the road at Hayden, the school said. They came in off a bye week, which they had hoped would bring some injured starters back, after beating Iroquois Ridge 42-6 in Week 4. Hayden had shut out Aldershot 29-0 the week before.

Nelson's juniors won the 1:30 p.m. opener 54-14. The Lords had billed that game as a chance to avenge last year's Halton Championship loss to the Huskies and lock up first place in the junior standings.
