St. John's Anglican Church on Dundas Street, where the church says people have worshipped since 1835 and in the current building since 1839, is one of five Burlington properties being considered for heritage designation. Designation under the Ontario Heritage Act limits what owners can change or tear down.

City staff and consultants will update the Heritage Burlington Advisory Committee, the volunteer group that advises city council on protecting historic properties, on their evaluations and recommendations at its meeting Thursday, Nov. 12. The five make up what the city calls Phase II, Batch 2 of its designation work, according to the committee's agenda.

The other four are houses, two of them farmhouses:

The city awarded the consulting contract for Phase II of its designation work to The Biglieri Group for $45,428.83, picking it from 13 bidders.

Each owner has already received a statement of their property's cultural heritage value, which sets out the features designation would protect. City council has the final say on designation.
