Halton Region Public Health inspectors found the Burlington Curling Club out of line on food source and protection from contamination at a re-inspection on Thursday, Nov. 5. That check looks at whether food comes from approved suppliers and is kept safe from contamination. It is a critical item, the kind health inspectors tie most closely to the risk of foodborne illness.
The visit was a follow-up to a routine inspection on Oct. 29, which flagged a different critical item: temperature and food storage. That problem wasn't flagged this time. Food protection was the only one of seven items found not in compliance, and it had passed in October.
The October visit also turned up a non-critical problem with how clean and well-kept the premises were, which was fixed while inspectors were there.
The club, at 2295 New Street, is listed by the health unit as a private bar and club. Its bar and lounge offers full food and beverage service to members and their guests.
