Nelson High School's junior football team beat the Frank Hayden Jr Huskies 54-14 on Friday, locking up first place in the regular-season standings of the HSSAA, Halton's high school sports league. That makes the Lords the No. 1 seed for the playoffs and earns them a home semi-final on Thursday, Nov. 5.
Hayden beat Nelson's juniors 38-24 in last year's Halton championship game, ending the Lords' bid for a 10th straight league title. In its game preview, Nelson Lords Football said the juniors were looking to avenge that loss and clinch first place.

Noah Walters led the way with three touchdowns. Dylan Wu and Max Evans scored two each, and Koen Clark scored his first touchdown. The league's posted results confirm the score from the game, played at Frank Hayden.
Next up is the Iroquois Ridge Wolfpack at Nelson Stadium. Their meeting earlier this season was lopsided: Nelson won 42-0 in Week 3.
Nelson's seniors, who played Hayden later the same day, also enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed. Nelson Lords Football reports their win as 41-7.
The seniors play their own semi-final at Nelson Stadium on Thursday against the Georgetown 87s, a rematch of the past three championship games. It comes a week earlier than usual because a mid-season upset by Abbey Park changed the seeding. The senior Lords beat Georgetown 37-21 in Week 2.
Kickoff times for both semi-finals haven't been announced.
